About this site

Welcome to Food and Adventures! My name is Elana and I’m here to share my love of food and travel.  As an expat currently living in Bangkok, Thailand, I aim to write about my various adventures in Southeast Asia, and beyond. I’ll also have a section dedicated to living in Bangkok.

When I first moved here, I was posting food photos on Facebook almost every day, and several friends told me that I should start a food blog. It sounded like a good idea since I also enjoy writing. However I don’t want to limit the scope to just food. My goal is to help others have a great time on their travels or with their expat life.

This blog will definitely have a focus on Bangkok (where I spend most of my time), but I will also write about my frequent travels. You can expect to read about great places to eat, cool places to visit, and local tips to make the most of your experience living or traveling here, from the perspective of an expat and seasoned traveler.

Why should you listen to me? I’m told I give great advice :-) Among my friends, colleagues, and other peers, I’m the one people come to for food recommendations and questions about travel. I’ve helped many people plan their travel itineraries for visiting Thailand.

A little more about me.

I’m originally from the US, born and raised. Besides the US and Thailand, I’ve also lived in France. While I’d always done lots of travel within the US, my first trip outside the US was in my 20’s. After that I was hooked and I knew I wanted to see more of the world. I believe that travel opens your mind to people and cultures you might never experience at home, and that food is deeply tied to local culture.

Moving to Bangkok happened by chance and opportunity. I never thought I would end up living here, until I was presented with an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. A couple months later, my bags were packed and I was on the way to a new life in Bangkok.

Aside from eating, some of my favorite activities are cycling, hiking, exploring cities, visiting ancient sites, road trips, live music, and photography.
